The Takoradi District of the Electoral Commission has registered 1592 new voters under the registration exercise held recently.

The district also had 460 transferred votes while nominations for parliamentary and presidential Aspirants had been opened to interested well-meaning Ghanaians and political parties.

Mr. Frank Esselfie Ansah told political party representatives, market women, Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice, clergy and youth groups who gathered at the Takoradi Sub-Metro Inter-Party Dialogue Committee meeting organised by the National Commission for Civic Education in Takoradi on Thursday.

He said the Commission was working strictly in line with regulations to ensure a successful December 7 elections.

The Inter-Party Dialogue Committee had been commissioned by the NCCE to educate the public and parties on the need to organise campaigns without excessive sharing of monies that could have been channeled into development projects, insults and other practices such as misinformation or disinformation, resulting in tension during elections.

The District Commander of Police Chief Superintendent Joshua Semanyoh said the police were ready and willing to provide the needed security during and after the process.

He encouraged all stakeholders to abide by the public order act, EC regulations and the provisions on vigilantism to avoid any challenges.

Mrs. Addeywood, the Metropolitan Director of NCCE, who was not obviously enthused about the attendance of the major political parties at the engagement prayed that they took the exercise seriously and in turn educate their followers.
