The Black Stars of Ghana suffered a 2-0 defeat against Sudan in the reverse fixture of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Two second-half goals from Ahmed Al-Tash and Mohamed Abdel Raman gave Sudan all three points against their Ghanaian counterparts.

Sudan remains second with seven points after their win, while the Black Stars are third with only two. Angola leads the group with nine points, while Niger trails with one.

Sudan’s Falcons were very impressive in the first half, playing some good football and keeping the Black Stars on the back foot.

In the first half, Ghana’s custodian Ati-Zigi denied his Sudanese opponents with almost three outstanding saves.

However, the Black Stars started the second half quite hesitantly, and the Sudanese took advantage of their subpar defensive play.

In the 62nd minute, Ahmed Al-Tash gave the home team the lead with a close-range tap-in after Gideon Mensah was unable to clear his lines.

Abdel scored the second goal for Sudan three minutes later after another poor defensive display from Salisu Mohammed.

The Black Stars tried to stage a late comeback to restore parity, but they couldn’t even get a consolation as Sudan picked all three points.
