We have made significant progress in enhancing sports infrastructure – Finance Minister

Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, the Minister of Finance, says they have made significant progress in improving sports infrastructure in the country.


This he said would provide athletes with the best platform for success.


He made the statement at the presentation of the Mid-Year Budget Review for the 2024 Fiscal Year to Parliament on Tuesday, July 23.


According to the Finance Minister, the enhancement of these sporting infrastructures would help develop our sporting talent and ensure that athletes are best-resourced.


He stated how Ghana successfully held the 13th edition of the African Games with the newly built international multi-sports facility at Borteyman and the newly commissioned University of Ghana Sports Stadium.


Dr. Amin Adam also stated that Ghana placed sixth on the medal table, having won a total of 69 medals (19 gold, 29 silver, 21 bronze), which represents its best performance at international multi-sport events thus far.


The Finance Minister also informed Parliament of Ghana’s Black Challenge team’s successful trophy triumph at the 2024 African Amputee Football Nations tournament, which was held in Egypt.


This remarkable trophy triumph, he said, secured a place for Ghana at the 2026 Amputee World Cup tournament to be hosted in San Jose, Costa Rica.
