Euphoria engulfs Oguaa as it awaits Otumfuo’s honour on Thursday

The University of Cape Coast (UCC) is filled with euphoria and ecstasy ahead of the special congregation to held in honour of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, on Thursday.

  
The New Examination Centre, the venue for the historic event, has received a picturesque facelift and set for the conferment of a doctorate degree on the Asantehene.

  
The picture of the revered chief and the flag of the Ashanti Kingdom have flooded the University’s campus and some principal streets of Cape Coast.

   
Scores of dignitaries and visitors, including chiefs, students, political leaders, businessmen, and academics, are coming in droves for the event, which is scheduled to start at 1100 hours.

  
Otumfuo Osei Tutu will receive a Doctor of Laws (LLD, Honoris Causa) Degree for his distinguished service to the country, particularly his commitment to promoting unity and social development across the country. 

  
The honour is also in recognition of his significant contribution to humanity in the areas of water and sanitation, health, education, entrepreneurship, culture, and heritage.

  
His many initiatives include the Otumfuo Education Fund and a health fund. 

  
The Asantehene is currently at the Emintsimadze Palace to pay a courtesy call on Osabarimba Kwesi Atta II, the Oguaamanhen. 

 
He will be the Special Guest for this year’s Fetu Afahye of the chiefs and people of Oguaa.
