The Wassa Amenfi West Municipal Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has held its fifth Inter Party Dialogue Committee (IPDC) meeting at the Redemption Presbyterian Church, Asankragwa.

The meeting was to discuss how to ensure peace in Wassa Amenfi West Municipality before, during and after the 2024 general elections.

Speaking at the meeting, the Municipal Director of NCCE, Madam Gloria Addisu Hasford called on all stakeholders present and members to act as ambassadors of peace and promote peace wherever they find themselves.

She said, “peace is expensive and Ghana’s own must be guarded with all alacrity as a slip will bring many mishaps, especially to women and children.”

Superintendent of Police Atta Yeboah Ntori, the Asankragwa District Commander of the Ghana Police Service, who is also as the Vice chairperson of the committee, admonished all stakeholders to see peace as the only way to go.

He assured stakeholders of the security services control of the municipality and warned that anyone who would be caught engaging in electoral malpractices would be dealt with according to the law.

The Municipal Electoral Officer, Mr John Asare, took stakeholders through the electoral laws on vote buying processes, and advised the participants to desist from spreading misconception but instead reach out to his outfit to get the authentic information.

Prior to the meeting, the IPDC had called on the Asankragwa Traditional Council to communicate the message of peace and sought their support in the organization of some projects all geared towards maintaining peace before, during and after the elections.

The committee was led by the IPDC Chairman, Nana Adu Boahen.
