Be measured in reacting to information-NCCE urges public

As the General elections approached, the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE)) has urged the public to be measured in reacting to information in order to ensure peace.


“In this era of misinformation and disinformation we must be very careful in reacting to information, especially as political parties campaigns heat up in order not to create fear and panic”.


Mr Emmanuel Otoo, Nsawam-Adoagyiri Municipal Director of the NCCE, said this at an engagement with the Inter-party Dialogue Committee, Youth groups and Religious bodies to sensitise them on a peaceful general elections at Nsawam.


He emphasized the need for tolerance of each others views and peaceful co-existence irrespective of ethnicity, aspirations, Political and Religious inclination.


Reverend Samuel K. Worlanyo, Chairman of the local Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Churches, observed that God was the focus of all religions whether Christianity, Islam or traditional therefore the mode of worship should not create divisions.


In that same manner, he said people belonged to different political parties and affiliations and the different ideologies or beliefs should not make them enemies and urged them to tolerate each other.


Mr. Muhaimin Yakubu, assistant chief Imam at Nsawam Central Mosque on his part said as true worshippers of Allah, moslems were obliged to demonstrate commitment to peace, because Islam was a peaceful religion and advised the youth not to allow themselves to be used by politicians to cause trouble before, during and after the elections.
