Former Black Stars player Ibrahim Tanko has been named the new Head Coach of Ghana Premier League (GPL) club Medeama SC.

The 47-year-old manager, who recently parted company with the Accra Lions, has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with the “Mauve and Yellow” club.

The former assistant coach of the Ghana Black Stars would now take over from Evans Adotey, who was appointed temporary coach following Nebojsa Kapor’s departure.

Ibrahim Tanko, who previously coached Ghana’s Black Meteors, would be trying to rekindle Medema’s title aspirations after their recent dip.

The Mauve and Yellow side are currently on a four-game winless streak, and they sit seventh with 26 points on 2024-2025 GPL standings.

The former Borussia Dortmund star who has vast coaching experience would lead Medeama this weekend when they face Legon Cities in week 19 of the 2024-2025 GPL at the TNA Stadium.
