The Ghana Prisons Service in collaboration with the Prisons Ministry Ghana have facilitated surgeries for 61 inmates across 10 Prison facilities.
The surgeries which were performed by specialist doctors and consultants from the Teaching Hospitals across the country and the Nsawam Medium Prison Hospital addressed various medical conditions.
These conditions are inguinal and umbilical hernias, adult circumcision, extraction of foreign objects and the removal of body swellings.
The surgeries which were performed at the Nsawam Prison Hospital included inmates from the Ankaful Maximum Prison, Ankaful Annex, Contagious Diseases Prison, Koforidua local Prison, Akuse local Prison and Senior Correctional Center.
The rest were Winneba local Prison, Nsawam Camp, Nsawam Medium and Nsawam Female Prisons.
The expertise of the visiting specialist doctors and consultants ensured the highest ethical standards, aligning with the principles of universal Health coverage.
