The Founder and General Overseer of the Lighthouse Group of Churches, Bishop Dag Heward-Mills, has apologised to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for using him as an example in a Kingship sermon where he questioned the relevance of chieftaincy.

The sermon on “Kingship” which Bishop Heward-Mills has explained was delivered more than 20 years ago has gone viral on social media recently.

Some people have threatened the Bishop for daring to question the relevance of chieftaincy, impact and legacy.

Apologising to the Asantehene, Bishop Heward-Mills explained that he preached nearly two decades ago and the content has been taken out of context “by persons who have previously declared their intention to bring harm and ridicule to our organisation [church]”.

In a press statement dated Saturday, June 19, 2021, Bishop Heward-Mills said the accomplishments of the Asantehene are evident and manifest for all to see.
