Police warn persons who display weapons on social media

The Ghana Police Service has issued a stern warning to persons who have developed the penchant of displaying weapons on social media.

The law-enforcement agency said such acts will be dealt with according to law if the persons behind them are arrested.

The warning was issued after the arrest of one Nii Ponponsuo, who was seen brandishing a weapon amid threats on social media.

He was arrested on Monday by personnel from the Police Intelligence Directorate and set to be arraigned before court Wednesday, November 24.

A search conducted led to the retrieval of one 12 bore SB pump-action gun.

The police warned the public to be wary of such acts as they will not be spared when found.

The warning also comes a few weeks after award-winning hiplife artiste AMG Medikal was arrested for same offence.

He has since been put on trial and will reappear on Tuesday, December 7 after being granted a GH¢100,000 bail.
