The president of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, will speak to the nation this evening about the government’s efforts to tackle the Covid-19 pandemic.

This will be the president’s 27th public appearance since his last in July of this year.

Before the yuletide, Nana Akufo-Addo is slated to discuss a variety of topics, including the community’s acceptance of the new Omicron form of Covid-19.

He will also speak on the country’s vaccination push, which is ramping up efforts to vaccinate 15 million individuals by the end of the year.

Already, the manager of the Ghana Health Service’s Expanded Programme of Immunization (GHS) has indicated that substantial quantities of vaccines have expired in the Volta area due to hesitation.

The president, noted for his “fellow Ghanaians” introduction in his COVID-19 updates, is also expected to wade into the debate on whether or not it is compulsory to vaccinate people arriving in the country at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA), as well as give details on progress made with the National Vaccine Institute under the leadership of Professor Kwabena Frimpong Boateng.
