SMT Ghana, the exclusive dealer of Volvo Construction Equipment, Volvo Trucks, Volvo Buses, and Volvo Penta in Ghana, has presented Asante Kotoko Football Club with a customised Volvo B8R –Marcopolo bus.

The bus has 34 seats, each organized in three rows.

It is equipped with hand sanitizers at the entrance and exit points, as well as air conditioning with ultraviolet light, to offer the highest comfort, safety, and well-being of travelers during the Covid-19 pandemic. During air renovation, the radiation destroys pathogens while also purifying the air.

Asante Kotoko Football Club received the first model on Friday, February 25, 2022, when the club made its first purchase to promote its football operations.

Chief Executive Officer of the Club, Nana Yaw Amponsah and some officials of the team were present at the SMT Ghana head office in Accra to receive the keys of the bus.

Sales Director of SMT Ghana, Felix Ofosu-Kontoh disclosed that the customised bus is the first of its kind, manufactured by Volvo and Marcopolo.“

This customised bus was made with COVID-19 in mind.

There’s enough distance between passengers to prevent contact. It also has hand sanitisers fitted at the entrance and exit points for passengers and air conditioning with UV-C radiation.

“We are therefore optimistic that this bus will be useful, especially for the football team and as Asante Kotoko FC has paved the way with the first purchase, we hope other teams will follow to protect the health and well-being of its players in this era of the global Covid-19 pandemic. This particular one purchased by Kotoko has been customised to suit the Kotoko brand identity, that’s the flexibility SMT offers. We believe it will keep the players safe and motivate them to play well”.
