(CNN) — “Avatar 2” is getting closer to becoming a reality.

The long-awaited sequel to the 2009 hit, officially titled “Avatar: The Way of Water,” will be directed by James Cameron again.

On Wednesday, Disney debuted new footage from the film at CinemaCon at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, with attendees reportedly given 3D glasses for the occasion.

“Avatar: The Way of Water” follows the Sully family as they struggle to survive.

The first trailer for the film will be released in theaters on May 6, the same day as Marvel’s “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.”

Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaa, Giovanni Ribisi, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Kate Winslet, Vin Diesel, Michelle Yeoh, Edie Falco, Cliff Curtis, and Jemaine Clement star in the sequel.
