Government has revealed plans to anchor industrialisation in the country through the establishment of a petrochemical industry.
According to the Minister of Trade and Industry, Alan Kyerematen, this is to support the local auto industry and add value to Ghana’s oil resources.
Speaking at the launch of the 75th anniversary of Deloitte Ghana, Mr Kyerematen said government is aggressively pushing for the development of an integrated bauxite and aluminum industry to add value to Ghana’s bauxite before export.
He added that the government is on track with its industrialisation agenda thanks to various reforms implemented in the industrial sector.
“We want to differentiate ourselves from other African countries that have exploited their oil and gas resources without adding value.” As a result, we are aggressively pursuing a program to establish a petrochemical industry in Ghana, as this is where you get plastics, bitumin, gas, fertilizer, and so on. And it will help our auto industry,” he added.
Meanwhile, Country Managing Partner of auditing firm, Deloitte Ghana, Daniel Kwadwo Owusu, in an interview with Joy Business said the firm will partner with the government to find solutions to societal problems.
“We want to help to solve the problems of the society. We don’t want to live for profit but to make an impact”.
In Ghana, 2022 is going to be a special year as Deloitte marks the 75th anniversary of making an impact that matters.
It’s an enduring story that began in 1947 with Mr James Donald Barnes, CA Scotland. He was a chartered accountant with an incentive to build something that would last.
He operated under the name and style of J. D. Barnes & Co. Chartered Accountants. What started as one person with an idea has grown to the firm we know today.
This was the start of a thriving firm that has grown to more than 300 people.
The Ghana firm has been in business for 75 years because of trust.
The firm says it will continue to make an impact that matters for another 75 years to come. While it counts on successes and milestones, it acknowledges that it could not have done it without its founders, alumni, partners, and staff. – Myjoyonline.com
