The Adventist Teachers and Education Workers recently held their inaugural annual conference in Sunyani. During the conference, Dr. Philip Oti-Agyen, the Dean of Students’ Affairs at AAMUSTED, urged Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) schools to prioritize Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and agricultural education. He emphasized that such a focus would contribute to solving the nation’s unemployment challenges. The theme of the conference was “Retooling the Adventist and Educational Worker for Instructional Leadership and Discipleship,” and it was attended by teachers and school heads from SDA institutions. Dr. Oti-Agyen highlighted the importance of TVET, agriculture, and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education in empowering students to address societal issues. Pastor Edward Opoku-Antwi, the Bono, Bono East, and Ahafo Regional Manager of the SDA Education Unit, explained that the conference aimed to foster stronger relationships between education managers, teachers, and pastors, enhancing social interactions and collaboration among them. He also encouraged teachers to promote discipline, morality, and serve as positive role models for their students.
