The Military Command in the Northern Region of Ghana, in collaboration with the Bank of Ghana, conducted a simulation exercise at the Bank of Ghana Regional Office in Tamale. The purpose of the exercise was to assess the preparedness of security agencies in dealing with armed attacks in the region.

During the exercise, a group of 10 simulated terrorists attempted to engage the bank staff and took them hostage, allowing the security services to activate their operations. Colonel Frank Worlanyo Agbebo, the Chief Operations Officer at the Headquarters of the Northern Command, highlighted the gradual southward movement of terrorist activities from the Sahel region and emphasized the need to equip specific institutions with the necessary techniques to respond to such threats in the country.

Colonel Agbebo stated that the objective of the simulation exercise was to assess the collaboration between the Police Service, Military, and local staff in combating any potential activities of violent extremists. He described the exercise as successful, as it provided an opportunity for the security services to reflect on and examine the best security practices in addressing potential terrorist activities.

Key security personnel, including Major Majeed Alhassan Adams, Exercise Coordinator, and Air Commandore Joshua Larkai, among others, were present during the simulation exercise.
