Businessman Faces Arrest Warrant for Alleged GH₵100,500 Iron Rod Fraud

An Accra Circuit Court has taken a significant step in the pursuit of justice, issuing a bench warrant for the arrest of Mr. Kwadwo Fosu, a businessman accused of fraudulent activities. The charges against the 45-year-old man include defrauding by false pretenses, issuing a false cheque, and failing to appear before the Court for his plea to be taken.

The alleged fraud revolves around iron rods worth GH₵100,500.00 that Fosu supposedly obtained from Star Steels Limited. He claimed to be making the payment through the Agricultural Development Bank, but the payment never materialized. Despite several attempts to bring him before the Court, Fosu failed to appear, prompting the Court to issue the bench warrant.

According to the facts presented to the Court, Mr. Isaac Amo, the representative of Star Steels Limited, lodged the complaint against Fosu, who was the Chief Executive Officer of Fosu Gyeabour Transport and Training Enterprise at the time of the incident. On October 14, 2021, Fosu allegedly purchased iron rods valued at GH₵220,000.00 from Star Steels Limited. He made a partial payment of GH₵119,550.00 but later issued post-dated Agricultural Development Bank cheques for the remaining balance. However, the cheques were returned unpaid, revealing that Fosu did not have sufficient funds in the specified accounts.

With the accused’s failure to fulfill his financial obligations and his subsequent disappearance, the complainant sought assistance, leading to the investigation that unveiled the alleged fraudulent activities. As the case continues, the Court has adjourned the proceedings to August 16, 2023, where Fosu will be apprehended to face the charges brought against him.
