Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration Introduces Master’s Degree Programs in Economics to Foster African Economic Transformation

The Department of Economics and Hospitality Studies under the Liberal Arts and Social Sciences at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) has launched a series of Master’s Degree Programs aimed at training skilled economists to support the economic transformation of African countries.

The newly introduced programs include a One-Year MSc in Financial Economics, a One-Year MSc in Energy Economics, a One-Year MSc in Economic Policy, and a Two-Year MPhil in Economics. These specialized programs have been successfully running for over five years, and the fifth cohort of students is set to graduate in the year 2023.

GIMPA has now opened admissions for the 2023/2024 academic year, inviting aspiring economists to apply for the MSc in Financial Economics, MSc in Energy Economics, MSc in Economic Policy, and MPhil in Economics.

The university, with its main campus in Accra and additional campuses in Kumasi, Tema, and Takoradi, offers a co-educational environment for students. The Department of Economics and Hospitality Studies is known for housing highly experienced economists who serve as lecturers for these specialized master’s degree programs, ensuring that students are well-prepared to become effective problem solvers in the field of economics.

GIMPA’s initiative to train a new generation of skilled economists comes as part of its dedication to contributing to the economic development and transformation of African countries, positioning itself as a leading institution in providing the necessary expertise to drive sustainable economic growth and progress.
