Agortime-Ziope DCE secures 100 per cent endorsement, pledges to embrace challenges and drive development

The newly appointed District Chief Executive (DCE) for Agortime-Ziope, Mr Alfred Klu Odikro, has received a 100 per cent endorsement from the Assembly Members, signaling a strong mandate for his leadership.

At a confirmation vote held on Wednesday April 2 in Kpetoe, all 22 Assembly Members, including government appointees, unanimously voted in favour of Mr. Odikro’s appointment, affirming their confidence in his ability to lead the district.

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Odikro expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support and acknowledged the responsibilities and challenges that come with the office of DCE.

He assured the people of Agortime-Ziope that he is fully prepared to embrace these challenges and steer the affairs of the district toward greater development.

Mr. Odikro outlined his vision for development, emphasizing key areas such as: Education, Healthcare, Agriculture, Road infrastructure, Economic empowerment

He pledged to implement measures that will bring sustainable growth to the district and serve as a springboard for socio-economic transformation.

“I count on the good people of this district to rally behind the Assembly as we work together to fulfill our mandate. Let us, as citizens, perform our duties and obligations as expected. It is only through our collective efforts that we can bring the desired impact and improve the quality of life of our people,” he stated.

The new DCE expressed appreciation to: The Volta Regional Minister and the Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC) for their guidance and support. The Assembly Members for their overwhelming endorsement. The traditional rulers and people of Agortime-Ziope for their continuous support.

He pledged to work closely with chiefs, community leaders, and stakeholders to ensure inclusive development in the district.

Speaking before the vote, the Volta Regional Minister, Mr. James Gunu, emphasised that the endorsement of the new DCE marks the beginning of a new era of development for Agortime-Ziope.

He reminded the Assembly Members of the importance of unity and collaboration in achieving meaningful progress.

“The President, in his wisdom, established the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs to ensure the active participation of chiefs and religious leaders in local governance. I urge the new DCE to work closely with these local authorities to fulfill this vision,” Mr. Gunu stated.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Agortime-Ziope, Mr. Charles Agbeve, also spoke at the event, stressing that the district is ready to move forward and reset its development agenda.

“We are in a hurry to reset this district, and we will hit the ground running immediately after this endorsement,’ he said.

With the unanimous confirmation of Mr. Alfred Klu Odikro as DCE, the people of Agortime-Ziope are looking forward to a new phase of growth, development, and progress under his leadership.
