Asukawkaw road crash claims four fives, injured many

Four lives were lost, and others sustained injuries in a road traffic accident near the Asukawkaw Bridge in the Krachi East Municipality of the Oti Region,

The accident occurred after a head-on collision between a commercial Urvan bus and a Ghana Statistical Service Toyota 4WD vehicle on Dambai-Asukawkaw Highway.

Emergency services swiftly responded to the scene and the injured were rushed to the Government Hospital at WoraWora for medical attention, while the bodies of the deceased were also deposited at the same hospital for preservation and autopsy.

The commercial Urvan bus carrying market women from Dambai bearing registration number VR 156-12 was en route to Akatsi in the Volta region, while the Ghana Statistical Service Toyota 4WD with registration number GV 371-23 was traveling from Greater Accra Region to Bimbila in the Northern region.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mr. Kennedy Frimpong, Katanga Police Commander, confirmed the sad incident to the Ghana News Agency (GNA).

He said authorities were investigating the cause of the collision to determine the factors that led to the accident.
