Mr. Godwin Awoonor, an examiner with the West Africa Examination Council and the current chairman of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) in the Eastern Region, has revealed that the 2021 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) marking will begin in January 2022.
According to him, the examiners will take a break during the Christmas season before returning to mark the exam papers from January 12th to January 16th, 2022.
Mr. Godwin Awoonor, speaking at Golden Child Complex School’s 14th graduation ceremony for Junior High School students in Asamankese on the theme “Self-discipline-the Key to National Development and Progress,” said zonal leaders had already gone for a meeting for the marking and that marking and grading would be completed by the end of January 2022, with provisional results released in February 2022.
The NAGRAT chairman urged parents and students to remember examiners in their prayers so that they would be in a good mental state to mark the papers, adding, “Marking for the papers calls for prayers.” Make every effort to pray for your children. They have finished school, and their papers are somewhere for teachers to mark, and there are a lot of issues with marking. I am an examiner and team leader, and I know what I’m talking about; the final marking scheme will be sent to the script checker for review.”
