It was tears of joy and a dream come true for Mr Philemon Quarshie, a 43-year-old person with disability, when he received a brand-new wheelchair from Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, the former NPP Chairman of the Afigya-Kwabre South constituency.

Mr Quarshie had always expressed his desire to campaign for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and the NPP in the 2024 Election, but his old and weak wheelchair limited his movement.

So when the Offinso South NPP organised a health walk preceding the launch of its campaign at Abofuo, Quarshie took the opportunity and accosted Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, who was one of the leading speakers, to express his desire and the challenge he had, and pleaded for a new wheelchair to assist him to join the campaign in the constituency.

Mr Quarshie said he had been a major beneficiary of the various social intervention programmes, which had been implemented by the NPP government and wanted to lead the campaign to tell his own story to the people.

Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, after listening to the exceptional desire of Quarshie to join the campaign team, promised to buy him a new wheelchair, and this was donated to him on Friday, September 06, 2024.
He was also given NPP branded T-shirts and an undisclosed cash amount.

Quarshie, who was overwhelmed with the gesture, said he was now in a better position to move from one house to the other, to tell the good story of the NPP government.

He thanked Odeneho Kwaku Appiah for the support and called on all party faithful in the area to join hands, to canvass for votes for the NPP to continue with the good works.

Mr Osei Sarfo, the Assemblyman for the Abofuo-Asuboi electoral area, confirmed Quarshie’s continuous desire to join the campaign in the area, but mobility had been a challenge to him.

He said the donation of the wheelchair would encourage him and other party supporters in the area to actively join in the campaign to canvass for votes to enable the NPP retain power in the December elections.

Odeneho Kwaku Appiah urged the party supporters to unite and join forces together to work in every corner of the constituency to help increase the NPP’s winning chances in the elections.
