China is currently hosting over 80 journalists from 49 countries in an intensive exchange program in its capital, Beijing. The four-month program, spanning five continents, aims to promote practical cooperation between Chinese media and foreign media outlets worldwide. Organized by China’s Public Diplomacy Association under the auspices of the China International Press Communication Centre (CIPCC), the program seeks to enhance news exchanges and foster deeper friendships between China and other nations.

Mr. Yu Lei, Director of CIPCC, emphasized the importance the Chinese government places on the role of media in strengthening effective cooperation with other parts of the world. The primary objective is to provide participants with direct exposure to Chinese operations and offer them an accurate and comprehensive picture of China to share with their audiences back home.

The program, conducted through the Renmin University of China, includes lectures on China’s politics, economy, diplomacy, history, society, and culture. Additionally, participants have internship opportunities in China’s media, engage in symposiums with relevant governmental departments, enterprises, think tanks, and media organizations, and visit selected provinces for media coverage. The participants will also have the chance to learn the Chinese language and socialize, receiving certificates upon program completion.

The journalists expressed enthusiasm about the program and pledged to explore China’s socio-economic development, sharing the knowledge acquired during the exchange. The CIPCC, established in 2014, aims to equip journalists and media personnel from around the world with a deeper understanding of China’s culture to facilitate more informed and accurate reporting on the country. So far, the center has benefited over 300 countries through its programs.
