Mr Eric Aboyer, the Dormaa Central Municipal Director of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) says a peaceful transition of political power will attract and build investor confidence for rapid socio-economic growth and development.

He, therefore, underlined the need for everybody to contribute to peaceful Election 2024 to boost and deepen investor confidence in the nation that would accordingly spur socio-economic growth and development.

Mr Aboyer was speaking at an engagement meeting of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) at Dormaa-Ahenklro on the “Preventing and Containing Violent Extremism (PCVE), an European Union (EU) funded project being implemented by the Commission.

He emphasised that peace remained essential for businesses to thrive and urged especially the youthful population to play their roles in ensuring that the General Election was conducted peacefully.

The youth must serve as peace advocates by using their exuberances to create and deepen public awareness about the relevance of peace.

Mr Aboyer urged Ghanaians to endeavour to live in harmony irrespective of their backgrounds, urging the youth to also serve as peace mediator, and urged women to also contribute to peace building processes at the local levels.

He also urged inter-faith and intra faith groups to build and foster mutual understanding among themselves to strengthen unity and social cohesion.

Mr Aboyer urged the youth to use social media productively and to promote peace, and admonished the public to help identify, and stem the spread of misinformation and disinformation.

“The negative effects of misinformation and disinformation may include social polarisation, reduced trust in information sources,” he stated, saying it required concerted efforts to combat misinformation and disinformation.

Mr Seth Broni Tagborloh, the Dormaa Central Municipal Director of NCCE, explained the meeting sought to educate political youth activists on the need for them to remain tolerant and to promote peace in the elections.

He urged the youth to be guarded and eschew political and election related violence that could ruin their future and undermine democratic principles and entreated them to be mindful about the utterances they made in the media too.
