Ghanaian Actor Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lil Win, has pleaded for an out-of-court settlement in a five million cedis defamation suit brought against him by fellow actress Martha Ankomah.
Lil Win was sued at the Accra High Court following alleged disparaging comments he made against Miss Ankomah in a viral video.
The case was expected to begin on Friday, but Lawyer for the plaintiff, Nii Apatu Plange, told the Court that there had been some development to the effect that Lil Win had requested for settlement.
The Judge, Justice Forson Agyapong Baah, adjourned to August 15 for the parties to finalise the terms of settlement for adoption by the court as consent judgment.
In her write, Miss Ankomah claims that during an interview on a radio station, she expressed disinterest in collaborating with Kumawood movie actors, citing witchcraft story lines as one of her bases.
She said although she has enjoyed Kumawood movies in the past, the portrayal of witchcraft no longer appeals to her.
Lil Win allegedly took offence at the statement and hurled insults at the plaintiff for consistently turning down offers from movie directors to feature in Kumawood movie productions.
Miss Ankomah argues that Lil Win’s verbal attack on her was provoked by claims by a movie Director that she had turned down an offer to feature in a Kumawood movie on grounds that the storylines do not make sense.
Miss Ankomah vehemently denies that claim and asserts that she has never had any such conversation with the said director to warrant the verbal attacks on her.
In her statement of case, Miss Ankomah claims that she is a distinguished actress and brand ambassador who has gained public respect through hard work and contends that the statement made by Lil Win has caused harm to her reputation and GTP, for which she was a brand ambassador.
Lil Win was absent from Court and was not legally represented.
