Mrs. Joyce Bagina Sutherland, the Effia Kwesimintim Municipal Director of Health says the Municipal now records around 85 cases of cholera daily.

The health burden, she noted, was becoming enormous and alarming needing emergency care and services to meet the growing need of population.

Mrs. Sunderland in an interview with the Ghana New Agency, said medical supplies and beds were now in shortage needing urgent replacement.

She has therefore, advised every home to have ORS as a first aid, ensure that affected persons go to toilet in pot and dug holes rather than poly bags or dumping toilet in gutters, which allowed flies to transmit the disease condition.

The EKMA Health Director said families who brought their patients to the hospitals must also allow the health professionals to do their work by staying away anytime a relative was brought.

She said: “let cover our foods, fried fishes and other foods exposed in the market…if you have to eat, eat hot foods”.

In STMA, the Regional Environmental Analyst has declared a ban on sale of processed vegetables by food sellers.

It has been established that such vegetables was the main source of the cholera infection.

So far, 789 cases with eight deaths have been recorded.
