The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has welcomed Virgin Atlantic’s decision and confirmation to resume operations in Ghana, starting May 2025.
  Â
The 25th airline to operate out of Kotoka International Airport, will have a daily flight schedule on a Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
 Â
A statement issued in Accra by the Airport Company said the return of Virgin Atlantic Airline to operate from Ghana underscored the confidence in Ghana’s aviation industry.
 Â
It said the return would significantly boosts efforts to establish Ghana as the preferred aviation hub and leader in airport business in West Africa.
 Â
Mrs Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, the Managing Director of GACL, expressed excitement about the return, saying ‘’We are thrilled to welcome Virgin Atlantic back to Ghana, which will become the 25th international airline to operate at Kotoka International Airport.”
 Â
She said the Airport Company looked forward to collaborating with Virgin Atlantic to ensure seamless launch of their operations and continued facilitation at the airport.
 Â
Mrs. Opare said  with the growing number of Airlines working out of Ghana, it was the decision of the Board and Management to utilise the use of Terminal of Kotoka International Airport to its optimal level, by having some more of the airlines operate from Terminal 2.
 Â
This will decongest Terminal 3, ease long queues and enhance passenger travel, for both passengers and airlines.
  Â
“Details on this will be shared with the public once stakeholder engagements are completed,” she said.
 Â
She said Virgin Atlantic’s return was expected to provide the travelling public greater connectivity options, connecting passengers from Ghana to various destinations around the world. Â
