GNFS marks Memorial Day with drills competition in Tamale

The Northern Regional Command of the Ghana National Fire Service has held an operational drills competition to mark this year’s Memorial Day in Tamale.

 
The event, which marked the fourth edition of the exercise in the region, focused on road traffic collision with musical chairs competition.

 
Six Fire Stations from the region including the Regional Headquarters substation, Tamale Metro, Sagnarigu, Tamale Teaching Hospital, Tolon, and Savelugu participated in the exercise. 

 
Assistant Chief Fire Officer (Grade 11) Mr Philip Masiku, the Northern Regional Commander of the Ghana National Fire Service, during the exercise, urged the officers to take the competition seriously as it was to strengthen and sharpen their skills.

 
He said, “This challenge aims to sharpen our reflexes so that we don’t fail at the incident ground.”

 
After the exercise, the Tamale Metro Fire Station was adjudged the best overall, followed by the Regional Headquarters’ substation, Sagnarigu, Tamale Teaching Hospital, Tolon Fire Station in that order.
