The Assistant Divisional Officer Grade One (ADO1) Clifford Ashie Teiko, the Bechem Fire Station Officer, has issued a warning to commercial drivers in the area, urging them to regularly check the electrical systems of their vehicles. This precautionary measure aims to prevent potential outbreaks of fires that can occur due to electrical system failures, battery faults, or fuel leakages.
ADO1 Teiko, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Bechem, expressed concern about the increasing number of vehicular fire outbreaks in the region. He emphasized the importance of drivers equipping their vehicles with fire extinguishers as a safety measure. By having fire extinguishers on board, drivers can effectively manage and suppress fires in case of an outbreak. ADO1 Teiko highlighted that it is mandatory for every vehicle to carry a fire extinguisher.
Additionally, ADO1 Teiko stated that drivers who fail to have fire extinguishers in their vehicles are committing serious offenses. He warned that those found in violation of this requirement would be prosecuted accordingly.
