Sergio Aguero will have a press conference on Wednesday with Barcelona president Joan Laporta to discuss his future.
Following the expiration of his contract with Manchester City, Aguero joined the Catalan side in the summer. After missing the first half of the season due to a calf injury, he returned in October to make his La Liga debut against Valencia.
Aguero’s first goal for Barcelona came in a 2-1 loss to Real Madrid. However, in the 1-1 tie with Alaves less than a week later, he felt chest issues.
His career at the Camp Nou is in jeopardy after tests revealed an irregular cardiac rhythm.
Aguero will now address the media to announce his ultimate choice on his playing future. Guillem Balague, a BBC Sport journalist, believes the Argentine goalscorer will retire to avoid significant complications.
For the 33-year-old, it would be a tragic turn of events. He joined Barca in the hopes of playing alongside Lionel Messi, a buddy and compatriot.
However, due to Barca’s massive debt, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner moved for Paris Saint-Germain in August.
Aguero’s comeback to Spain has been hampered by injuries and, more recently, a heart condition.

Aguero a Premier League legend
The striker will always remain a legend, particularly for his time at Atletico and then Man City.
After bursting onto the scene for Independiente in his native Argentina, Atletico paid £19.5m to land Aguero in 2006. He went on to score 100 goals in 230 games for the club, while also winning the Europa League in 2010.
A move to City followed, and it proved to be an inspired one. 260 goals in 390 appearances make him the deadliest overseas player in Premier League history.
He is fourth on the competition’s all-time goalscoring charts, behind only Alan Shearer, Wayne Rooney and Andy Cole.
Aguero’s goals took the Citizens to five Premier League titles, one FA Cup and six league cups. They also won the Community Shield on three occasions.
Guardiola gives Grealish advice
Meanwhile, City boss Pep Guardiola has been speaking about £100m man Jack Grealish.
“Grealish doesn’t have to do anything different. The way he’s playing is good,” the Spaniard said.
“It will come, absolutely no problem. He’ll continue to practice because you’ve got so many fantastic players.
“He thinks we have to score correct goals all the time… he doesn’t have to.
“[What] he has to do is play feel like he knows what he has to do, he has to do exactly what he is doing. No more than that. The rest is coming in time.
“He has chances to score goals every game and one day he is going to do it. He could have had a hat trick against Watford and he will have that chance again.
