A team of experts from the Ministry of Health has conducted an inspection of the ongoing construction of a GH₵3 million Community-based Health Planning and Service (CHPS) Compound in Susuanho, Tano North Municipality of the Ahafo Region. The team, which included an architect, civil engineers, and a member of parliament, assessed the progress and quality of the project.
Led by Dr. Freda Prempeh, the Member of Parliament for Tano North Constituency and Minister of State at the Office of the President, the construction of the CHPS Compound is being funded by the government and is expected to be completed within six months. The facility will house accommodation for nurses and doctors and will be equipped with modern medical devices and equipment to provide healthcare services to the community.
During the visit, Mr. Jacob Twene, a civil engineer, emphasized the importance of delivering quality work and cautioned contractors against engaging in shoddy practices. The managing director of PETMAT Construction Works, the executing company, Mr. Peter Kyeremeh, expressed confidence in completing the project on time with the support of the community.
Dr. Prempeh urged the construction firm to provide job opportunities for locals, particularly young women, and emphasized the need for diligent work to ensure the timely completion of the facility. She highlighted the urgent need for the CHPS Compound, as it would significantly improve access to healthcare for pregnant women in the area, reducing the challenges they currently face in reaching the nearest hospital for labor.
The inspection visit demonstrates the commitment of the Ministry of Health and the government to providing quality healthcare infrastructure at the community level, ensuring that essential services are accessible to all.
