NCA Empowers Staff with 5G and Spectrum Training in Collaboration with Huawei

The National Communications Authority (NCA) has taken a proactive step towards enhancing its workforce’s expertise by engaging 20 staff members in a rigorous four-day training on 5G and Spectrum in Ho, Volta Region. Partnering with Huawei Ghana, the training has been designed to equip participants with an in-depth understanding of various facets of 5G technology and its pivotal role in shaping the telecommunications landscape.

Throughout the training, participants were immersed in diverse areas, including 5G Business and Industry Application Scenarios, Sub-6GHz Spectrum Development and Progress, 4G/5G Network Construction Standards, Quality of Service (QoS) Application Cases, and the supervisory and regulatory obligations associated with 4G/5G network construction.

Mr. Edmund Yirenkyi Fianko, the Acting Director Engineering at NCA, emphasized the significance of the training as part of the Authority’s ongoing commitment to fortify its workforce’s capabilities. He highlighted that the ever-evolving nature of technology, especially in areas like 5G, demands that regulatory bodies like NCA stay abreast of the latest advancements.

Acknowledging the complexity of the industry’s research and development landscape, Fianko underlined the crucial role of training initiatives like this in bridging knowledge gaps and enabling NCA staff to remain well-versed in the most recent vendor innovations. He extended gratitude to Huawei for their pivotal role in organizing the training and urged participants to leverage their newfound expertise within their respective divisions to contribute to Ghana’s digital transformation agenda.

Mr. Kweku Essuman Quansah, the Deputy Managing Director at Huawei Ghana, emphasized the profound impact of 5G technology on various sectors and praised the collaboration between NCA and Huawei in delivering this training. As an industry leader in the ICT ecosystem, Huawei is well aware of the transformative potential of 5G wireless capabilities and is committed to collaborating with partners to meet the growing digital demands of the industry.

The training, facilitated by industry experts from South Africa and China, underscores the collaborative spirit between regulatory bodies and industry leaders, fostering knowledge exchange and ensuring that professionals remain at the forefront of technological advancements. As the NCA staff internalize their learnings and share them across the industry, the nation’s digital landscape is set to benefit from their enriched expertise.
