The Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) says it has since 2017 completed 3,077 infrastructure projects from the basic to tertiary level.

The Fund completed 1,608 basic education projects, 1,298 Senior High School projects, 153 tertiary projects, 16 e-blocks, two TVET centres, and two model schools.

Mr Isaac Asiedu-Odei, Head of Public Relations, GETFund, announced this on Tuesday at the National Education Week in Accra.

The event was on the theme “The Education Transformation Agenda: Evidence From 2017.”

He said the government was constructing five training centres for the Commission for Technical, Vocational Education and Training.

The contracts were signed in September 2018 and works on two of the projects—Pakyi number one and Anyinam are nearing full completion and handing over.

Two more sites, namely Akomadan and Assin Jakai, are at various stages of completion.

Mr Asiedu-Odei said each of the five TVET Centres was a state-of-the-art complex, comprising fully equipped classrooms, laboratories, workshops, and staffrooms.

On scholarship, he said the Fund had increased in local scholarships from over 300 in 2016 to 5,026 in 2023/2024.

The Head of Public Relations said GETFund had in the past 15 years supported scholars to pursue various programmes at both local and foreign institutions.

The Fund in its lifetime, has sponsored over 16,000 scholars to both local and foreign education institutions.

Mr Asiedu-Odei said 2,718 vehicles were distributed to various agencies and institutions under the Ministry of Education between 2019 and 2021.

He said a total of 677,470 furniture items have been distributed to basic and secondary schools between 2019 and 2021.

Mr Asiedu-Odei stressed that the Fund would continue to adhere to its mandate of providing financial support to the agencies and institutions under the Ministry of Education.
