Parents of Toase Roman Catholic Junior High School in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality of the Ashanti Region, have decided to take it upon themselves to renovate and modernise the classroom blocks of the school.

The decision of the parents came after a long period of neglect of the deplorable nature of the school by the Ghana Education Service and other key stakeholders.

At a meeting of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) held in the school compound to discuss academic and other issues affecting the school on Tuesday, the parents agreed to contribute
GH¢30.00 each to renovate the school.

Mr Emmanuel Antwi, Chairperson of the Association, said it was urgent for the parents to contribute to improve teaching and learning environment to enhance academic work in the school.

He said the Association already had sand, while the chief of the town, Nana Yim Awere Ababio, had also provided 55 bags of cement to support the renovation of the school.

Mr Antwi commended the members for agreeing to support the venture and said it showed patriotism, and love for their children’s education and their future.

Ms Beatrice Morrison, Headmistress of the School, appealed for laptop computers to enhance the teaching of Information Technology (IT) since the teachers relied on their personal ones, which were often not sufficient for effective teaching and learning especially, of that subject.

She mentioned the lack of a fence wall to tighten security and the ceiling of the classrooms, as other challenges facing the school.

Ms Morrison commended a citizen of the town, Agya Yaw Owusu, who is domicile in Canada for donating a printer, a desktop computer, and a projector worth GH¢9,000.00 to the school.
