At least 127 individuals have already perished as a result of the floods in Rwanda.

Homes have been destroyed and landslides have been caused by torrential rains that have swept through the Western, Southern, and Northern regions.

The majority of the fatalities, according to Rwandan authorities, happened in the Western Province near Lake Kivu.

Emergency help was already on its way, according to Marie Solange Kayisire, Rwanda’s minister in charge of emergency management.

According to the local Red Cross, six individuals in Uganda’s neighbouring west were killed when landslides struck their homes following days of excessive rain.

According to experts, climate change is causing an increase in the frequency and severity of extreme weather occurrences.

In southern Ethiopia, severe rains last month caused floods and landslides that resulted in at least 14 fatalities.
