It seems the goal of the government to shut down betting in the country has been revealed by a Member of Parliament for Nhyiaeso, Dr Stephen Amoah.
The Member of Parliament declared that plans are far advanced to deal with young men who illegally partake in sports betting as well as persons below 18 years.
The MP said that a by-law has been drafted to that effect and will soon commence by assembly authorities.
Speaking on the effect of sports betting and what the by-law seeks to achieve, he said the move is to reduce criminal activities among the youth.
“What we are going to do now in Nhyieaso is that children below 18 years will be arrested at betting organizations if they engage in betting, we will also arrest children possessing or buying alcohol and other hard substances. We will arrest them even when they are sent by their parents,” he noted on Abusua FM in Kumasi.
