The Ghana Football Association (GFA) will be part of 211 member countries participating in the 74th Congress of the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) in Bangkok, Thailand.

The Congress, which would commence on May 15, would end on Friday, May 17, and would be attended by Mark Addo – Vice-President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Mr. Prosper Harison-Addo General Secretary.

The two officials would be making their second representation for the second year in a row after they attended the 2023 FIFA Congress in Kigali, Rwanda.

The Congress will be presided over by FIFA boss Gianni Infantino, and chiefs of all six continental governing bodies gather at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, Bangkok, Thailand, with a packed agenda.

Among the items to be discussed at the Congress are a number of key issues – including confirmation of the host nation or nations of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027.

This week’s event would focus on a range of issues facing football while the vote on Friday to decide whether Brazil or Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany would host the 2027 Women’s World Cup will be the highlight of the five-day event.

Mexico and the United States last month withdrew from the 2027 race to focus their efforts on hosting the 2031 tournament.

Thailand is the first Asian country and the fifth in the Asia-Pacific region after Japan, South Korea, Qatar, and Australia to host the annual gathering of world football leaders.

The Thailand Government is scheduled to host a dinner for important delegates attending the Congress at Santi Matri Building, Government House, on Wednesday, 15th May, 2024, at 1900 GMT.

More than 3,000 people are expected to participate in this this year’s FIFA Congress and other related activities.
