Thousands of sympathisers of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Tema East Constituency have embarked on a “24-Hour Economy” walk in support of Mr. Isaac Ashai Odamtten, the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP), and parliamentary candidate.
The walk, which commenced at Kplejootsoshishi in Tema Newtown, saw participants singing and dancing to songs, including NDC campaign songs celebrating the MP and expressing their support for the party’s flagbearer, former President John Dramani Mahama.
Mr. Odamtten, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), expressed appreciation for the massive turnout, noting that it reflects the strong affection the constituents have for John Dramani Mahama and his vision of a 24-Hour Economy.
“The theme for the walk is the ’24-Hour Economy,’ and the energy and enthusiasm displayed by the youth and the entire Tema East community show that the NDC, which is number 8 on the ballot paper, is the party they will vote for in the upcoming election,” he said.
Mr. Odamtten explained that the 24-Hour Economy concept would involve dividing work into three shifts, morning, afternoon, and evening, allowing three individuals to contribute to a single job, thereby boosting productivity.
He mentioned that both the elderly and the youth in the constituency are committed to supporting him as the parliamentary candidate, with many pledging to contribute financially to the NDC’s campaign drive in the constituency.
Mr. Odamtten expressed confidence that the NDC would secure at least 60 percent of valid votes from the Tema East constituency in the upcoming elections, pointing to the overwhelming support witnessed during the walk as evidence of the party’s growing popularity.
