Trump takes early lead in US election as vote counting continues

Election results have so far held few surprises as polls continue closing across the United States, with former President Donald Trump winning Florida and Texas while Kamala Harris picked up New York and Illinois.

None of the seven battleground states have yet been called as vote counting continues.
