Joshua Alarbi, an unemployed man, has been sentenced by an Accra Circuit Court for stealing a money box containing GH₵135.00 and unlawfully entering an apartment. Alarbi pleaded guilty to the charges and explained that he stole the money box to obtain funds for his Ghana Card. The court, presided over by Mrs. Kizita Naa Koowa Quarshie, convicted him based on his own plea. Alarbi was sentenced to three months for unlawful entry and nine months for stealing, with the sentences running concurrently.

According to Police Inspector Ansah Da-Costa, the prosecuting officer, the complainant, Mr. Stephen Nana Sarpong Dodoo, is the Manager of Biney Apartments in Nungua Addogono. Both the complainant and the convict resided in the same area. On June 25, 2023, around noon, Alarbi entered one of the apartments through a balcony window while the occupant, Silas Confidence Beauty, was away visiting a friend. He ransacked the room, including the wardrobe, and stole a 32-inch LG television, GHS 1000.00 in cash, and an empty money box. A tenant who was awake witnessed the crime and raised an alarm. Alarbi attempted to escape but was apprehended by the occupant of the apartment and handed over to the Nungua police. During the investigation, Alarbi admitted to the offense in his statement.
