Gospel singer Diana Hamilton has become the second gospel artiste to bag the topmost award at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs).

The Adom hitmaker was on Saturday crowned the 2021 Artiste of the Year at this year’s event held at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).

She becomes only the second gospel artiste after Joe Mettle in 2017 to win the topmost award.

She also becomes only the second female artiste to win the crown after Ebony Reigns was posthumously decorated with the Artiste of the Year gong in 2018.

On a tough night in the category, following the optimism exuded by Enjoyment man KiDi, who swept four awards, Diana Hamilton could not hide her joy when she was named by Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Mark Okraku Mantey as the winner of the topmost award.

The Mo Ne Yo composer had scooped three awards viz Best Gospel Song, Best Gospel Artiste and Vodafone Most Popular Song before carrying the night with the Artiste of the Year.

She thanked all her fans, the Church of Pentecost, her husband and loved ones for supporting her career thus far.

Before this year’s awards, the UK-based artiste had won the Gospel Artiste of the Year in 2020 and was even a nominee for the Artiste of the Year in that year’s edition.
